The Challenge
Antique Jewellery and Gems is a specialist in acquiring and selling high-end antique jewellery. Unlike other e-commerce websites, each item in the inventory is unique hence the inventory management is critical.
They have retail and wholesale operations which have different requirements for both inventory management and pricing.
Two previous attempts by other vendors had failed to deliver their full requirements, so naturally the client was sceptical and reluctant to make a third attempt at this project.
The Solution
Cognisant Hosting was given the go ahead to create a website that could cater for the unique requirements of this client, including:
- Wholesale and Retail Front-End
- Wholesale and Retail Pricing
- Multiple Currency Pricing (GBP & USD)
- Consignment Shipments (Sale or Return for Wholesale clients)
- Inventory management including Location
- PCI Compliant Payment Process
- WooCommerce Platform
- Bespoke Back-End WordPress interface
The full project was delivered in 6 weeks including 4 bespoke Plug-ins to cater for Inventory Management, Inventory Location Management, Price Management, Consignment Management.
The Results
The general feedback from visitors has been very positive, and all bespoke functionality is working as per client’s requirements.
Financial Director Vito Ferroni said, “After our experience with other vendors, we felt this would be another aborted attempt as our requirements had proven to be impossible to achieve. Cognisant Hosting prove us wrong. Despite our scepticism, they delivered on everything we asked for, including a number of functionalities we had on our ‘nice to have list’. Remarkable is the only word I can use!”
